And they are off!

Fourth time lucky after lockdown rearrangements, our cleft timber gatemakers were finally on their shave horses convincing chestnut and oak logs to become gates.

At the end of day 3 our eight gatemakers were exhausted but rightfully extremely proud of their gates. Each of them had wondered how it could take 3 full days to make a gate but as their muscles are aching and energy spent, they now appreciate the time and effort that goes into cleaving, axing, and shaving each of their gate components. Most gates are now complete but a couple are still to be united with their pickets when they get home. Watch this space for portrait photos of their finished gates tomorrow.
