We welcome walkers, cyclists and other visitors to the Clwydian Range

With our campsite just 350m from Offa's Dyke, Wernog Wood is the perfect place to pitch a tent in our wildflower meadow or stay in a bell tent in a ready made bed.

This stretch of Offa’s Dyke crosses the A494 pass at Clwyd Gate, offering a natural break in the arduous run of Clwydian peaks.

If you are walking from Offa's Dyke, use the footpath not the road. The footpath is marked in RED  on the map on this page.

A couple of important things to note

The campsite is strictly for adults who are seeking a quiet getaway. As much as we love music, we do not allow music in the campsite. The field is a vehicle free-zone, but we provide do a trolley to help you transport your luggage to your tent pitch.

Wernog Wood is a working site, with some daytime construction underway although we do our best to keep things quiet! When we arrived in 2017, the entire place was derelict. We prioritised building our business and creating welcoming spaces for visitors, which is why work on our own home is only happening now. So don't be surprised to see a few piles of rubble and some rough looking bits, but WE are excited to think we might be in a warm & dry home soon!

Camper vans

We can welcome a maximum of two campervans. Please note that the only flat parking space available is in the same area where course attendees park, so it is not quite as picturesque as the camping meadow. Unfortunately we do not allow vehicles on the field.

You are very welcome to use the campers’ kitchen in the field, which is fully equipped and includes a veranda with a sofa and lovely views across the valley.

If you are looking for a base to explore the area, it works perfectly. But if where you park is your main destination, we want to be upfront about the layout. Parking is near the Red Shed, so please be mindful of their need for peace and quiet.
