Directions from Mold – Coming from Mold, take the A494 Ruthin road which brings you through Gwernymynydd, Loggerheads and Llanferres. About 3 miles on from Llanferres, you come will over the brow of the hill through Clwyd Gate and see a fabulous view right across Ruthin. Our turning is on the left hand side about ¼ after the brow*. If you get to a layby on the left and bend in the road, you have gone too far.

Directions from Coedpoeth – the best route if you are coming from the south. Come up the A5 and A483 and then A525 towards Ruthin. On the A525 you will come through Coepoeth and Bwlchgwyn. Just after Bwlchgwyn, instead of following the road to Ruthin, turn off on the B5430 for Llanarmon yn Ial and Graianrhyd. It will eventually bring you out on the A494 where you need to turn left to Ruthin. About a mile on, you come will over the brow of the hill through Clwyd Gate and see a fabulous view right across Ruthin. Our turning is on the left hand side about ¼ mile after the brow*. If you get to a layby on the left and bend in the road, you have gone too far.

*Coming down from Clwyd Gate, our driveway is not easy to see, and is a tight bend back on itself. So you will either need to swing out into the road to make it, or go into the layby just after our turning and come back up the hill and tackle it from there.

Directions from Ruthin - From Ruthin, take the A494 towards Mold through Llanbedr DC. There are two sets of tight bends on the hill, and we are about ½ mile after the second set of bends. There are two laybys on the right, and our turning is on the right just after the second layby.

Public transport

There are good connections by train to Chester and then buses to Ruthin... but let us know if you have any problems. For national rail connections with 'Trainline' see here and for buses from Chester to Ruthin here.  In theory you can request a stop on this route at Clwyd Gate which is 500m from our workshop, but if they don't stop, we can come and collect you from Ruthin. It's possible that you can request a stop in the lay-by just after Wernog Wood if coming from Chester.
