ABOUT COURSES

'The chair making course was a complete detox from a life over-burdened with electronics and mechanical tricks that ‘save’ us the bother, and true joy of hand crafting something as simple as a chair. There are easier and cheaper ways of adding a chair to the household inventory but most definitely none so satisfying'.

We offer an array of traditional and contemporary craft courses for adults, instructed by practicing artists and crafts people. Courses are tailored for beginners as well as those with experience. Ranging from single day to week-long courses, you will learn your new skill within our charming woodland workshop, or at the jewellers bench.  There are options for one to one tuition, small groups, or larger groups of up to ten people.

Our stunning indoor and outdoor work spaces are available to hire for other artists to run their own short courses or exhibitions.

If you are staying for more than one day, we offer simple camping in our wildflower meadow,

either in a bell tent or in your own tent, or you can book our quirky but comfortable and well equipped Red Shed to round off your woodland experience.

Ample tea, coffee, cake and a simple home cooked lunch are all included within your course fee.
For those of you staying overnight, we have a spacious kitchen and living area as well as an outdoor pizza oven for breakfast and evening meals. We suggest you read our page on meal arrangements to see how we normally go about things.

Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wernog Wood is a hidden gem, right in the heart of the Clwydian Range, north east Wales. Our beautiful oak and ash woods are teaming with birds and wildlife, bluebells and wild garlic and an invigorating stream.

Just 200m from Offa’s Dyke and footpaths in every direction, you can enjoy evening walks in the heather covered hills, down into Ruthin, or along Offa’s Dyke itself to a variety of rural pubs.
