An inspiring day exploring the Clwydian hill range and local woodlands with your camera. This digital photography workshop works on both technical and creative levels, giving you the skills and confidence to really push your photography. You will learn how to get the best out of your equipment and how to visually simplify the complex natural world around you into pleasing fine-art compositions.

The workshop is a chance to take a step back and to take time to think about the core-elements of making a great photograph in nature; subject, light, composition and time. This day-long workshop starts with a short theory presentation, visits two special locations in Denbighshire and finishes with a demonstration of digital post-processing techniques using example images from the day's photography.

You will need to come equipped with a dSLR or a mirrorless, interchangeable lenses camera

Stories from our students

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course. Being challenged to look at

photographs in a different way and in different scales really pushes the bounds of ‘what I know’.

The artwork in the afternoon was also very thought provoking and really useful. And the introduction to Lightroom was exceptional.

I feel like I’ve learned an awful lot and had some very thought provoking information presented to me. - Dave

The course was excellent in every respect. Although having to adapt to very wet weather on the day, David managed to put together a program that pushed our photography appreciation and knowledge to new levels.

Post Covid, it was great to be working in an informal group and undertaking exercises in Wernog's woods & the superb workshop. I was very pleased with the results and look forward to the next course, when hopefully we may be able to get up into the hills. Especially loved the Bara Brith! Difficult to find anything to fault in the facilities or the course - Chris

Great day yesterday, really enjoyed it - definitely inspired me to pick up my camera more often (even in the rain).  Nice to see such great photos from the group too. - Simon

From the base of 'zero', I've gained so much from your inspiring course. Richard

An excellent day in a well run centre with friendly hosts and an excellent course tutor. I learnt a lot during the day and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. Lovely grounds, spacious and very interesting centre. - Des
