We have three exciting digital photography days to choose from. Each will give you skills and confidence to push your photography to new technical and creative levels. You will learn to get the best out of your equipment & how to visually simplify the complex natural world around you, taking time to think about the core-elements of making a great photograph; subject, light, composition and time. You will need to come equipped with a dSLR or a mirrorless, interchangeable lenses camera

In March, your day will be studio based and you will learn to build still life nature compositions and learn to optimise the quality of your images. You will also take an in depth look at Adobe Lightroom for efficient editing & organisation of raw images.

In May your day will focus on woodland & water, and October you will explore the Clwydian landscape. On either day, you will start with a short theory presentation, followed by a ramble with your camera, and finish with a demonstration of digital post-processing techniques using example images from the day's photography.

Stories from our students

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course. Being challenged to look at photographs in a different way and in different scales really pushes the bounds of ‘what I know’.

The artwork in the afternoon was also very thought provoking and really useful. And the introduction to Lightroom was exceptional. I feel like I’ve learned an awful lot and had some very thought provoking information presented to me. - Dave

Great day yesterday, really enjoyed it - definitely inspired me to pick up my camera more often (even in the rain).  Nice to see such great photos from the group too. - Simon

The course was excellent in every respect. Although having to adapt to very wet weather on the day, David managed to put together a program that pushed our photography appreciation and knowledge to new levels.

Post Covid, it was great to be working in an informal group and undertaking exercises in Wernog's woods & the superb workshop. I was very pleased with the results and look forward to the next course, when hopefully we may be able to get up into the hills.

Especially loved the Bara Brith! Difficult to find anything to fault in the facilities or the course - Chris

It was paced just right for me and I re-learnt a lot about camera settings. Also the tuition on Adobe light room really opened my eyes to what can be achieved with some good editing.

David White is an excellent tutor. It has inspired me to to get out there and take more pictures, which I will make time to do. - Chris

From the base of 'zero', I've gained so much from your inspiring course. Richard

An excellent day in a well run centre with friendly hosts and an excellent course tutor. I learnt a lot during the day and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish. Lovely grounds, spacious and very interesting centre. - Des
