Erin Zarach, otherwise known as Pebs, is a North Wales–based willow basket maker whose journey began under the guidance of her mother-in-law, acclaimed basket maker Mandy Coates.
In 2019, she wove her first piece with Mandy – a plant support – and quickly fell in love with the craft.
Using a mix of homegrown and Somerset willow, Pebs creates a wide range of beautifully made baskets.
Her partner, Fred Farey, teaches timber framing here in Wernog Wood alongside his brother Joe.
Stories from our students
This course has previously been taught by Pebs' mother in law Mandy.
Highly recommend a course with Mandy - we had a lovely day and came home with very nice baskets - thank you! - Kate
A great course in a beautiful setting with a good lunch and plenty of coffee/tea to keep us going throughout the day. Mandy was an excellent tutor and juggled our various needs well and brought a lovely mixture of willow varieties for us to use. Would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn how to make a basket.
Brilliant place to learn new skills, I’ve done two basket making courses here and thoroughly enjoy my experience.
Claire and Rob are great hosts, the lunch plain but delicious with homemade bread.
I will be going again in 2024, can’t wait - Sue
