Natural wool dyeing

... a little information about your  course...
taught by

Liz Benson

Welcome to bring an apron to protect your clothes from dye.

If your course description mentions dyeing clothing, Liz suggests that you bring only items that are purely natural materials such as cotton, linen and wool. She says:

  • You can bring between 3 and 5 items of clothing to dye

  • They need to be at least 90% cotton, linen or wool

  • They don't have to be white - they could even be something stained that needs new life

  • Ideally tops or light trousers rather than heavy dungarees, because of room in the pan

  • The clothes need to be pre-washed (even if new) and should be white or a lighter colour

You may want to bring some knitting as your pot will boil more quickly when you are not watching it.... and the best colours come to those who wait!
